Job Description:
A Fortune 500 company seeks an Accounting Manager. The candidate will work under the direction of the division controller/CFO. Will assist in managing all aspects of the division’s historical reporting, anticipatory budgeting and financial projections. Act as the conscience of the division which, among other things, involves fiduciary responsibilities, business process improvement. Management of A/P staff. Communicate with other departments regarding issues that impact accounting. Oversee all cash receipts and deposits of the division. Prepare or review job starts and journal entries for starts. Prepare annual operating budget/forecast on line item basis. Prepare budget updates when requested by region/corporate. Reconcile or review general ledger accounts with corporate accounting (prepaid inventory, development jobs, earnest money deposits). Maintain general ledger Interface with senior management and regional accounting staff. Verify that cash receipt entries and all journal entries are entered JAE. Update business plan and budgets. The accounting manager has the fiduciary responsibility of enforcing the operating procedures and policies. The candidate must report financial results in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) together with financial and accounting policies. The accounting manager must fully understand all aspects of the computerized accounting system deployed in the operating divisions, and utilize the system to its full capabilities. Will support the division controller as requested in the preparation and reliability of all financial projections required by corporate management. The responsibility for all banking activities, as delegated by the division controller, rest with the accounting manager and must be executed in accordance with company policies and procedures. Directly manages 2 or more employees in the accounting department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 3-5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
