An American federation of independent, community-based and locally operated healthcare coverage companies seeks an Accounting Manager with 5+ years’ experience working in accounting or a corporate internal audit department with 2+ years’ direct supervisory experience. The candidate will be responsible for managing accountants; provide direction, coaching, and oversight of staff. Provide direction to employees using established policies and procedures and set priorities for staff. Influence, interact and make decisions spanning division and unit level. Translate and contribute to business strategy. Translate work programs and processes. Contribute to short and long range planning and development. The candidate should have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting. M.B.A. preferred. CPA certification or CPA candidate is a plus. Should have experience preparing and reviewing high risk reconciliations (cash, suspense accounts, clearing accounts). Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and theories is required. Preferred skills include: Experience documenting processes and implementing process improvements; experience supervising seasoned accountants; Big 4 accounting experience; experience accounting for pensions and other employee benefit matters; experience developing or reviewing accounting policy/procedures and flowcharting; demonstrated ability of successfully managing complex projects; experience with complex automated systems.
