Job Description:
 An Internet services company seeks a Senior Unix Systems Administrator preferably with 5+ years of Unix system administration (FreeBSD, Linux) experience. The scope of this job includes maintaining production environments (including configuration management, managing builds/deployments, capacity planning, and performance analysis), monitoring of system resources, and providing support to development and other teams of the organization during major projects. Candidate will be able to use scripting and tools to gain efficiencies. The system engineer/administrator will provide exceptionally responsive support, requiring occasional after hours and weekend availability for on-call support of priority systems, applications, and periodic maintenance activities. The system engineer/administrator will provide detailed and timely project status updates to management and internal customers by utilizing departmental standards and procedures. A focus on ensuring an incredible customer experience for customers is essential. The candidate should have B.S. degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Should have Unix system administration (FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris) experience. Understanding of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts is required. Experience working in a 24x7 production environment supporting e-commerce applications is necessary. Working knowledge of HA strategies (RAID, clustering). Experience with performance tuning/capacity planning of servers (hardware and software levels). Working knowledge of Apache. Ability to write Perl or shell scripts. Experience with source code management tools (CVS/SVN, Perforce). Ability to automate server builds using jumpstart/kickstart. Working knowledge of various MTAs (qmail, sendmail). Working knowledge of various systems security tools (ssh, tcp wrappers, cops, tripwire) with a demonstrated ability to implement them. Ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Unix variants, experience working as a system administrator, and a working understanding of networking. Preferable job qualifications: Project management experience. Knowledge of MySQL and/or Oracle. Knowledge of Java, XSL/XML, PHP - Experience with high volume, large B2B or B2C e-commerce environments.
