Job Description:
We are searching for an experienced Cisco Network Support Engineer to work on our project team focused on a major manufacturing customer with locations throughout the U.S. The right candidate will gain valuable experience working with Fortune 100 customers to apply leading-edge technologies in progressive environments. Applicants must be able to perform network implementation and support in a mission-critical 24x7 production environment, as well as function as a lead engineer for a team that travels to plant locations to perform project scoping, network implementations and assessments. Position may require the ability to travel up to 25% in the continental U.S.
Primary responsibilities:
*Travel to customer locations to perform network installations, upgrades & assessments
* Integration of Cisco network equipment into critical production environment
* High-level analysis and troubleshooting of network infrastructure
* Work with Cisco switches in a multi-layer switching environment (6500,3750,2900)
* Coordinate with customer manufacturing management to accomplish work with minimal downtime
* Documentation of current and new installations
* Work with Cisco Lightweight Wireless (Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controller)
* Reporting on Network Performance
Job Requirements:
Skills/Qualifications Required:
* 2+ years networking experience in a 24x7, global, mission-critical environment
* Understanding of large-scale LAN design, implementation and management in a Cisco product environment (routers, switches, wireless, etc.)
* Expert knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, EIGRP)
* Understanding of automated manufacturing environments preferred (PLCs)
* Strong customer service skills
* Strong interpersonal, written, oral communication skills
* Team leader capabilities with the ability to train lower-level engineers
* Cisco-certified, CCNA preferred
