Job Description: Position Summary Monitors and maintains systems, participates in planning capacity, performs audits, installs and maintains mission critical infrastructure. Provides technical support and consultation and ensures 24/7 operational support and maintenance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assess business and technology initiatives, providing consultation, technical support and recommendations to optimally utilize the enterprise network infrastructure.
Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery, creating preventative measures to deploy in the enterprise.
Researches and designs reference models to standardize network architecture and manage network life-cycle planning.
Provides expert technical direction and mentoring to associate analyst and engineers. Prioritizes LAN/WAN faults and diagnoses and resolves problems.
Works on problems of complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
Works under general supervision in administering and managing state-of-the-art network infrastructure, monitoring tools and security systems.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action as well as recommend and document best practice guidelines for future leverage.
Job Requirements: • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field and requisite job experience.
• Five plus years experience in a network and/or security engineering role or equivalent network architectural capacity with proven experience in enterprise network architecture, management, capacity planning and monitoring.
• CCIE preferred (other networking certifications welcome)
• LAN/WAN and desktop knowledge/skills are desired, including from among the following: OS/applications: Windows Server 2000/2003, Active Directory, Novell NetWare 5.x/6.x, MS-Exchange/Outlook.
• Must have the ability to develop in-depth understanding of the enterprise business and business processes; awareness of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies/relationships.
• Must have proven experience in leading small to large technical projects with demonstrated oral and written ability to communicate with team members.
• Must have a solid understanding of VPN concepts and experience with GRE, IPSEC and other VPN technologies.
• Must have strong working knowledge of network/internet Protocols/Services such as VoIP, SONET, DWDM, MPLS, GigE, 10/100 Ethernet, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, IPSec & NAT.
• Must have experience with design, planning and trouble-shooting network related problems in an enterprise environment with expertise in Cisco Routers, Switches, Load balances, Pix Firewall, and Intrusion Detection. (Cisco 7200, 3600 and 2600 series routers, and 6509 and 8540 switches.)
• Must have experience designing high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments.
