Job Description:
The Operations Manager will be directly responsible for all of the optical component manufacturing, coating, machine shop, assembly operations and production support resources within RPO. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of leading a 50+ employee manufacturing organization to optimize production processes to maximize yields and achieve 100% on-time delivery. Furthermore, the candidate must possess the technical skills to be able to direct engineers and technical staff to research and implement new technologies to reduce costs through technology innovation. The candidate must demonstrate strong business acumen and be self-motivated, willing to take initiative, and capable of operating independently and responsibly with minimal oversight.
Job Requirements:
• BS degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering degree with direct experience in managing a production facility.
• MS degree in Operations Management or equivalent desired.
• Experience with optical, electro-optical, or opto-mechanical devices is strongly desired.
• Familiarity with the International Traffic in Arms Regs. (ITAR) desired.
• Excellent strategic analysis skills combined with strong business sense.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 required
• Ability to balance customer requirements and needs with business priorities and to suitably articulate those decisions to production personnel with the appropriate diplomacy.
• Proven experience as an Operations Manager in an Optics company is highly desirable.
• Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt Certification highly desirable
• American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) – CPIM Certification desired
