Job Description:
A Fortune 1000 company seeks a Director of Human Resources with 5-8 years of relevant experience. The candidate implements HR policies and programs, and directs HR programs such as employment, employee orientation and training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety and health, and employee services. Participate with Corporate HR to design and develop practices and objectives that will provide a balanced program throughout all areas. Implement and/or deliver training for new programs and company plan changes for the employees. Coach, develop and maintain the highest performing employees by determining performance improvement needs and design local incentive plans. Utilize resources in the Corporate HR group to assist in implementing targeted programs. Deliver all HR programs by providing necessary education and materials to community management and employee-workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, standardized reports. Monitor effectiveness and cost containment. Direct the preparation and maintenance of reports for top management. Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale. Monitor legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR such as OSHA, EEO, TEFRA, ERISA, FLSA. Monitor exposure of the company and prepare information as requested or required for compliance. Escalate to VP-HR-Area as necessary. Work within standard recruiting and placement practices and procedures to schedule and interview community employee candidates. Complete company payroll and policy paperwork with new hires. Coordinate with Corporate HR in the implementation of wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services, and company safety and health programs. Keep Area VP or Corporate HR informed of significant problems that may jeopardize achievement of objectives or those not being address adequately. Responsible for employee data integrity such as pay grades, titles, benefits eligibility and exemption status. Bachelor’s degree is required. Knowledge of HR functions such as benefits, compensation, staffing, compliance, employee relations, and performance management is required. Must be familiar with a variety of federal and state laws such as FLSA, and employment laws. SPHR, CCP, CEBS certifications is a plus. Some travel will be required.
