Job Description:
Plan, direct and through motivating techniques, delegation of responsibilities and appropriate authority to Engineers, formulate and guide projects to accomplish maximum production though utilization of work force. Skills, machines, tools, methods and time controls. Plan and coordinate the development of new engineering concepts, e.g., machines, tooling, equipment, methods and related technology and direct the designing, procurement and application of approved projects. Provide estimates of manufacturing costs for new products, tooling, etc., as related to manufacturing. Represent the department at planning and other regular management meetings to provide assistance and recommendations to resolve engineering and technical problems. Plan and conduct investigative studies on excessive production costs and initiate, implement and guide cost reduction programs to favorable conclusions. Plan, organize and administer departmental systems and procedures, operating budgets and controls. Participate in Company programs designed toward improvement of personnel skills, on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, etc. Either directly or through subordinates, utilizes available staff services to maintain satisfaction in the areas of staffing, training, communications, wage administration, discipline and other day-to-day procedures. Through contact with educational institutions, professional societies and professional journals, texts and periodicals, keep abreast and well informed on new developments in the engineering and managerial fields.
