This position provides the direction and coordination of his/her work team, using systematic methods and principles, to maintain a positive work atmosphere and to achieve the plant objectives of safety, quality, service, and cost. The Production Supervisor has the specific authority to plan, organize, supervise, and schedule manpower, equipment and other resources within his/her assigned areas of responsibility and within the policies, procedures, guidelines and budgets issued by GAF-Elk. Other responsibilities include: assuring it is operated most effectively; learning and utilizing company systems; participating/ leading meetings as prescribed; and developing management and technical skills to enhance plant performance and prepare for future work assignments. The Production Supervisor is an important member of the management team, because this position provides around-the-clock supervision of plant operations. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Plans work of employees in line with production schedules as received. Works with fellow supervisors and hourly team members, to provide proactive safety, housekeeping, and quality leadership, to ensure achievement of plant goals. Manages, in a hands-on style, the people resources and process; provides leadership and demonstrates ownership in troubleshooting problems. Supports Continuous Improvement of plant operations.
