Job Description:
Main responsibility:

To help develop / analyse new products and/or investment opportunities and provide insight into business performance.

Typical activities include:

· Identifying solutions by learning and applying new methods (e.g. designing mathematical models that interpret data in a meaningful way);

· Keeping up to date with new mathematical developments and producing original mathematics research;

· Presenting findings at group and departmental meetings, and to senior management;

· Writing applications for funding;

· Possibly managing a research team

· Produce tailored solutions to business problems using innovative and existing methods and suggesting new ways to analyse data to provide more sophisticated insights into available data;

· Meeting with internal clients throughout projects to discuss ideas and results;

· Advising internal clients on how to benefit from mathematical analysis, making recommendations based on these analyses.

Job Requirements:
Potential candidates will need to show evidence of the following:

· A creative approach and a deep interest in mathematics;

· The ability and intellectual agility to analyse complex problems;

· Tenacity and patience for developing research projects;

· Good oral and written communication skills;

· Commercial awareness;

· The ability to make quick decisions;

· Flexibility for adapting quickly to changing market needs or developing original solutions.

Qualifications:

· A holder of MS level degree in Maths or higher

· Minimum 5-7 years experience in the field of commercial mathematical modelling and research.
