Job Description:
Beantown Staffing, LLC is seeking a senior-level Linux Platform Engineer to join our innovative and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a small startup environment and be comfortable playing several roles at the same time.
You will be responsible for the following:
-Installing, configuring, and tuning Linux distributions for shipping customer desktop and embedded systems
Choosing and customizing an embedded Linux distribution
System Administration for in-house Linux servers (production, development, and test)
-Network Administration for in-house and production networks
Job Requirements:
-5+ years experience as a System and/or Network Administrator
-3+ years experience as a Linux System Administrator
-Hands-on experience building custom Linux kernels including system parameter tuning and kernel module selection
-In-depth knowledge of Linux startup and runtime configuration and tuning in both server and desktop environments
-Hands-on experience choosing, configuring, and tuning embedded Linux distributions
-Expert knowledge of Bash and Perl scripting languages
-In-depth knowledge of Linux network and firewall configuration, including multi-homed routing, VLANs, multicast, network load balancing, etc.
-Ability to administer a mixed Linux and Windows environment
-Experience administering RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS distributions is a plus
-Experience administering Windows domain and exchange servers is a plus
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to wear several hats in a dynamic small team environment
-4-year degree highly preferred
