Job Description: Primary Purpose: Oversee the month-end close and financial reporting processes for a growing $120 billion financial institution with a complex organizational structure and multiple lines of business. Lead the month-end close process through complete and thorough planning, coordination and communication with all business units, subsidiaries and home office departments. Present the monthly corporate results of operations to the Chief Financial Officer and other members of Executive Management. Oversee the monthly preparation and delivery of vital financial information/statements to Executive Management, the Corporate Board of Directors and Bank Board of Directors used in corporate governance and critical decision making. Ensure that all financial information provided to Executive Management, Corporate Board of Directors, Bank Board of Directors and the SEC & Shareholder Reporting Department is delivered timely and accurately.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Lead and oversee the month-end close process and present a crucial, detailed earnings report/analysis to Executive Management by the fifth business day of each month. 2. Manage the process to provide vital monthly financial information/statements used for corporate governance and critical decision-making by Executive Management, Boards of Directors, Loan Policy Committee members and Asset Liability Committee members. It is imperative that all information/statements be delivered timely and accurately, since strategic corporate-wide decisions are based on the information provided. 3. Supervise at least two key, high-level managers and a department of professionals and provide support as needed. 4. Serve as project leader on complex, critical financial reporting projects for Executive Management, as requested.
Job Requirements: Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent education and related training 2. Ten or more years of experience in the accounting industry or in public accounting 3. CPA with strong theoretical accounting knowledge 4. Seven or more years of supervisory experience with ability to motivate, coach and mentor team members 5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 6. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word 7. Strong organizational skills 8. Outstanding work ethic and the ability to multi-task 9. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills 10. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight
Desired Skills: 1. Twelve or more years of experience in the accounting industry 2. Ten or more years of experience in a management position, preferably in the banking industry 3. Association with organizations comprised of individuals responsible for the reporting function at peer group banks 4. Proficient in mainframe-based E-Series GEAC system, understanding system commands for query and reporting functions 5. COGNOS experience
