Job Description:
Marine traffic consists primarily of commercial tows and vessels with moderate use by private recreational craft. Plans, coordinates and supervises employees engaged in providing instructions and assistance to vessel crew members during maneuvering and mooring of vessels in lock chamber. Plans work schedules, establishes priorities and deadlines, and makes work assignments. Performs a variety of personnel management tasks. Purchases equipment, supplies, parts and services within established monetary limitations. Ensures property records are maintained accurately and government plant, tools and equipment are properly used. As COR, ensures services performed are in accordance with contractual documents and agreements. Maintains adequate security. Investigates accidents; prepares required reports.Qualifications:Click on link below to view qualification standard. Trades and Labor Operates vehicles, outboard motorboats and lock cranes. Screen Out Element: Ability to do the work of a Lock and Dam Equipment Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Resumes will be reviewed for the following: Ability to supervise. Ability to develop safety measures and to instruct others to operate all lock and dam equipment and machinery properly and safely, not creating any hazardous situations or discomfort for self or others.
