Job Description:
Ensures cables are properly dried and protected from moisture. Uses engineered and installation project drawings, task lists, task instructions and technical orders or commercial manuals to determine requirements of and perform work on underground, buried and aerial cable systems. Installs underground cable and distribution equipment. Terminates copper, coax, and fiber optic cables on main distribution frames and interface equipment. Locates, repairs, and/or replaces faulty splice closures in copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cable systems. Uses test equipment to determine cause of signal deterioration in optical and electrical cables carrying audio, video, digital and data transmission and identify copper conductors and optic fibers in working and nonworking cables. Uses duct rods, cleans cable duct systems, prepares pulling apparatus, and pulls in arid temporarily bonds cable.
