Job Description: Legal Advocates for Children and Youth (LACY), is a program of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley established to secure justice and protect human rights by providing legal advocacy, counseling and access to the legal system for those who would otherwise be unrepresented. LACY advances the legal rights of minors in Santa Clara County, empowering them to lead healthy and productive lives.
The Supervising Attorney works closely with LACY’s Directing Attorney to supervise the program’s legal work, maintain and grow funding resources, and manage the administrative aspects of the program.
DUTIES 1. Manage the work of LACY including supervision of staff and casework, and management of planning and administrative needs; 2. Work closely with LACY Directing Attorney in development and implementation of program’s policies and procedures and program development; 3. Track policy and legal developments in the area of children’s rights; 4. Represent LACY at meetings run by the court, county, or stakeholders; 5. Provide advocacy and representation to clients to the extent permitted by supervisory activities; 6. Oversee and participate in education and outreach to community about legal issues confronted by children and youth; 7. Public relations with government contractors and the community; 8. Participate with LACY Directing Attorney in application for, negotiation, and management of contracts and grants for funding of program; 9. Participate with LACY Directing Attorney in budgeting and monitoring of expenditures; 10. Participate in Law Foundation and LACY fundraising events. 11. Oversight of volunteers and pro bono attorney programming
SALARY: The salary range for the Supervising Attorney position is $60,000 - $76,000, depending on the persons experience and level of skill, plus excellent benefits package (including health, dental, and life insurance, 401k employer match of 4% after first year, generous vacation and holidays, paid state and local bar dues, annual training stipend, and more).

Job Requirements: 1. Five years of experience in public interest law or advocacy services; 2. California Bar Membership or ability to practice law in California; 3. Experience in supervision and management; 4. Demonstrated commitment to the rights of children; 5. Direct experience in child advocacy, including family law, dependency, and education; 6. Experience in program administration, fiscal management, and grant and report writing; 7. Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with underrepresented communities, such as clients of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and who speak other languages; 8. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; 9. Experience in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access;
