Provides support for business initiatives that affect a broad area of departments as they relate to the Financial and Operational Inventory functions. Position provides the subject matter expertise and leverages off the skills and knowledge of the team to identify and implement on-going opportunities for improvement and changes that have cross-functional impact. The position also participates in the leadership of the overall Inventory Control department, including the establishment of overall goals and the quality, development, motivation and retention of staff. Technical subject matter expert for the financial accounting of merchandise inventory Ensures compliance with company policies related to accounting and reporting for inventory; requires a strong working knowledge of GAAP and a strong awareness of internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Responsible for the review of Company Inventory related policies, incorporating changes in regulatory requirements and pronouncements Provides technical expertise and oversight in the development of new or revision of existing inventory related policies Overall responsibility for the fiscal close process (monthly/qtrly/annual) Provides guidance over and drives effective solutions for handling inventory transactions through the Financial Inventory system Provides guidance and support for financial inventory projects, initiatives and process reviews - drives the establishment of business requirements Researches industry best-practices through benchmarking with management in other retailers Reviews and monitors Finance team metrics, identifying areas of opportunity and reviewing proposed action plans Reviews proposed financial and operational process improvements internally and externally to the department Provide oversight to the system reconciliation processes Provides administrative oversight to the Strategic Initiatives team. Participates in department Senior Leadership in the establishment of priorities for all Inventory initiatives. Works with department senior leadership team to establish high level vision and goals.
