Job Description: Tig Weld Description (See below for Burr Hand Description)
• Perform all types of TIG welding to repair worn or damaged areas and cracks on aircraft parts and fixtures to meet high strength and pressure specifications
• Plan and layout welding work on titanium, aluminum, and nickel based alloys and stainless steel parts following standardized working procedures and parameters using welding matrix when applicable.
• Read and understand engine manuals, illustrated parts manuals and other technical data to perform welding work as required
• Use calipers, micrometers, indicators and gauges to measure repaired part and ensure dimensional requirements are met. Perform local fluorescent penetrant inspection on parts at different stages of the repair as required.
• Weld metal part together or build up worn or defective surfaces on components. Use gas welding, brazing and any combination of welding processes, as required, in accordance with standard practices and specifications found in engine manuals.
Burr Hand Description:
• Perform a variety of duties to burr and break edges on aircraft engine parts according to instructions contained in operation sheets. • Work from operations sheets or instructions from parts coordinator or from department supervisor. • As outlined in operations sheets, gather tools and other equipment needed to deburr such parts as turbine fan cases, engine housings and Pratt cases. Perform jobs in priority order unless instructed otherwise. • Layout abrasives and air guns required for each part or operation. If needed, set-up holding devices such as rotary and hydraulic tables. Use carbide drills, emery cratex and flat wheels, PSA discs, buffing and wire sheets and diamond files according to the operation requirements. • Operate burr guns of different configurations or buffing machines to bring about dimensions required on operations sheets. Prepare first piece and submit along with appropriate documentation to In-Process Inspector. Inspect own work using micrometers, calipers, verniers, GO-NOGO gage blocks and pins and visual aides.
Job Requirements: • 3+ years in aerospace environment • Good mathematical skills • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents • Ability to lift or move material from 25 pounds to 60 pounds
