Senior Windows Systems Engineer II
Our team is seeking a Senior Windows Engineer for a contract-to-perm, to join a fantastic team with a winning attitude.
Windows System Engineers are part of a team whose primary responsibilities include; designing, planning, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting Company Infrastructure. This position encompasses the areas of optimizing system availability, functionality, security, and performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Install, build, configure and maintain servers in a production data center environment
* Design, configure and maintain a global Microsoft Active Directory services implementation
* Implement and provide support of messaging systems based on Microsoft Exchange server, Instant Messenger, and other industry standard systems
* Promote system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing system standards and operational best practices; provide technical leadership in design and administration decisions for Information systems operating systems and platforms
* Facilitate the planning of system and feature upgrades, and plan & participate in scheduled off-hours service outage upgrades
* Perform and document system operations processes and procedures including installation and testing of system upgrades, fail-over, and configuration
* Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company
* Enforce system and network security guidelines and procedures
Job Requirements:
* Experience with more than 2 versions of a Server operating system (i.e. Windows 2000 and Windows 2003) or experience with 2 or more differing Server operating system (i.e Windows 2003 and Red Hat Advanced Server)
* Experience with Microsoft clustering technologies
* Minimum of 3 to 5 years Microsoft Active Directory administration experience in large-scale, geographically distributed Windows environments
* Understanding of patch management systems (e.g. SUS, WSUS, SMS), and anti-virus
* Experience implementing and supporting new Windows-based technologies and understanding of associated business implications in a geographically distributed environment with little or no supervision
* Experience deploying and supporting messaging systems using Microsoft Exchange server; knowledge of other messaging systems, including send mail, postfix and SMTP protocol desired
* Ability to provide Tier 3 support on all production and non-production systems working problem resolution with Vendor support if necessary
* Experience in developing and maintaining more advanced scripting with vbscript, perl, or shell
* Knowledge of and experience with PKI infrastructure and implementation
* Knowledge of and experience in supporting Windows infrastructure components such as, Anti-virus, file services, print services, Sharepoint, Microsoft Operations Manager, Altiris, Etc
* Ability to manage multiple IT projects & deadlines effectively with a minimum of supervision
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Willingness and desire to provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers
* Ability to participate in shared 24/7 on-call schedule
