Job Description: Critically review and manage distribution network. *Manage real-time solutions to challenging logistic situations. *Team with senior management, sales, and scientific staff to develop and implement logistics best practices for the organization. *Develop and implement policies and procedures and identify and implement systems to support the logistics function. *Work closely with procurement and provide input on policies, procedures, best practices and systems related to the logistics function. *Work closely with and seek input from customers to thoroughly understand their specialized needs and translate those into operational solutions. *Ensure third party service providers understand requirements and work with them to implement operational solutions. *Monitor supplier performance, identify areas for improvement and ensure improvements are made. *Communicate with regulatory agencies as needed to ensure compliance *Identify risk associated with import and export operations, recommend and implement solutions to reduce risk. *Monitor shipping practices to ensure domestic and international compliance. *Develop tracking system(s) and metrics and utilize these tools to manage the logistics function. *Integrate learning from customers, competitors, operating entities, customer service, industry groups and business trends to continuously improve competitive position. *Develop disaster plan to include transportation failure, inclement weather, or potential health hazards. *Coordinate with purchasing the development of transportation-related customer/supplier contracts and bids. *Participate in customer visits and, take corrective actions based on feedback. *Conduct vendor audits to assure compliance with relevant regulations and corporate policies and standards. *Direct the development and communication of departmental systems, SOPs, policies, and procedures. *Ensure that training and development needs are identified and programs initiated. *Develop and recommend departmental budget. Qualifications *Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in management or related discipline. Master's degree (M.B.A/M.S.) and/or supply-chain management certificate preferred.
