Job Description:
This position is instrumental in the expansion of the centralized corporate purchasing function for a large marketing company. This position will be responsible for managing central purchasing activities and assisting local/expert buyers in contract negotiations and vendor management by providing them with tools and techniques for developing RFP’s/RFI’s, negotiating contracts, and performing vendor analyses. Specific Duties and Essential Functions: Lead efforts in expanding the centralized corporate purchasing function to help drive the overall purchasing strategy for the company. Lead and participate on teams negotiating vendor contracts. Work with local buyers, legal, functional organizations and other parties to establish standard contract clauses, assess contract compliance, and negotiate vendor contracts and master service agreements. Analyze and identify trends related to purchasing activities across the company. Develop and communicate company wide purchasing procedures. Drive the continued expansion of a purchasing card program. Assist with expanding the implementation of a Purchase Order (PO) process and the supporting system. Implement a standard methodology for conducting RFP’s/RFI’s and statements of work. Work with all buyers to reduce overall payments made to vendors. Act as a liaison between legal and the business. Assist with the resolution of issues as they may arise on a post contract award basis. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. 7+ years experience in the purchasing field. CPM and/or vendor management certifications are a plus. Must have a solid understanding and demonstrated history of contract development and providing contract measurement addendums such as service level agreements and statements of work. Must have excellent negotiation skills and the ability to analyze financial terms and performance metrics. Must be familiar with sourcing practices and have a solid foundation in vendor relationship management. Must be self motivated/self directed and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must deal effectively with peers, vendor and other company personnel at all levels. Adept at using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and familiar with purchase order software. Experience with MRP systems is a plus. Ability to travel as necessary.
