Job Description:
We protect our transportation infrastructure from terrorist attack and ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. At TSA, we act swiftly and with integrity to: Discover and stop emerging transportation security threats, utilizing state of the art technology Educate and provide friendly customer service to travelers Screen passengers and gather intelligence Coordinate security involving aviation, rail, and other surface and maritime transportation Oversee most transportation-related responsibilities of the federal government during a national emergency Oversees the screening checkpoint on a daily basis, scheduling an adequate number of screeners to provide efficient screening of all persons, baggage, and cargo. Conducts screening of passengers, baggage, and/or cargo. Works closely with screeners, managers, airport security staff, and law enforcement personnel at checkpoints. Directs work of employees, assigning tasks, and monitoring and evaluating performance. Enforces TSA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent security breaches. Participates in information briefings concerning security-sensitive or classified information. Maintains communication with management regarding issues that might reveal a security weakness. Key Requirements: Pass appropriate security clearance Pass drug and alcohol pre-employment screens Requires you to be fingerprinted, photographed Major Duties: Functions as Level 1 Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (Screener): Responsible for supervising personnel performing pre- board security screening of persons and their carry-on and checked baggage. Oversees the screening checkpoint on a day-to-day basis to include equipment and personnel. Schedules an adequate number of screener personnel to provide for efficient and effective screening of all persons, their baggage, and cargo. Conducts screening of passengers and/or baggage, and/or cargo. Works with a full team of Transportation Security Officers (Screeners), supervisors, law enforcement personnel at checkpoints, airport security staff, and management. Implements security-screening procedures that are central to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) objectives that will serve to protect the traveling public by preventing any deadly or dangerous objects from being transported onto an aircraft.
