Job Description:
The clinical specialty/subspecialty may include: bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology and diagnostic immunology. The environmental microbiology may include arboviral surveillance, dairy analysis, water testing, rabies detection, etc. Characteristic activities: performs administrative functions of the lab that include training and orientating staff; monitors performance; manages supplies and equipment inventories; establishes and updates laboratory protocols and procedures, monitors compliance with federal, state and VDH related regulations; quality control and quality assurance of laboratory procedures. The candidate should meet current CLIA requirements for technical supervisor in microbiology for a high complexity laboratory. Require skills of a proven leader to supervise laboratory staff, as well as plan, organize, oversee and coordinate activities and resources related to technical operations. He/she must be a good team player and have the ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues and laboratory customers, to interact well with other health care professionals. Prefer graduate degree in microbiology, immunology or biological science with emphasis on virology, molecular biology and/or equivalent training/experience. Valid drivers license and own transportation for local travel. Background investigation required.
