Job Description:
The Nurse Manager holds 24 hour/7 day a week responsibility and accountability for managing patient care, patient care programs, and staff activities. The Nurse Manager reports to the ACNS/Inpatient care to support the mission, vision and objectives of Nursing Service and the Medical Center through the following activities: 1)Supervising and evaluating day-to-day activities and performance of nursing, other professional and ancillary support staff assigned to the unit, 2) Planning and managing unit staffing to meet patient care needs, achieving cost-effective unit operations and meeting productivity goals, 3) Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to continuously improve productivity, efficiency, customer satisfaction and patient care outcomes, 4) Assuring that standards of care and practice are maintained in patient care, and 5) Assessing, maintaining and improving competence and professional role of staff members which includes providing staff development opportunities, 6) Facilitating researched-based and caring theory guided practice. Skills/Requirements EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed. 2. BSN (National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission) (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited) OR Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing with Bachelor's Degree in related field. 3. In addition to the basic requirements above: Masters Degree in Nursing or related field with BSN (or bachelor's degree in a related field) is preferred. QUALIFICATIONS:1. Five years of current nursing experience2. Documented evidence of high satisfactory performance and attendance3. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships4. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate Nursing and Medical center goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to staff, patients, and the health care team6. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.7. A recruitment/relocation incentive may be approved for this position.
