Major Duties: This position is located in the Dental Clinic at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, ND. The position is responsible for the direction of the dental assistants. The position also performs such functions as planning, organizing, directing, and reviewing work; administering personnel matters; and accomplishing non-supervisory task and/or special assignments as required. This position supervises the dental assistants. Performs general and expanded function dental asssistant duties including: Dental prophylaxis, TBI, fluoride treatment, and dental sealant. Assists the dentist at chairside by performing all dental procedures done at the Service Unit. This assistance includes retraction of tissues, evacuation of debris from the oral cavity, anticipation of the dentist's needs so as to select the appropriate instrument to pass during the procedure, and the proper handling of all materials needed in the procedure. Correctly exposes, processes and mounts both intra and extra-oral dental radiographs, and operates both the panoramic and cephalometric units. Directs the work of 12 dental assistants who assist the providers in providing dental care.
