Job Description:
Will be located in a field office for coordination with the Area Manager and field staff. For those projects, the Construction Manager must organize, coordinate and manage engineers, field inspectors, and other related personnel. Activities will include: Coordination with other work in the same area; Implementing procedures to ensure quality output and technical compliance with engineering designs, plans and specifications; Monitoring construction progress and schedules; Reporting; Cost control and processing payment requisitions; Commissioning of projects; Maintain adequate communications equipment in field; Ensure that Contractor is aware of contractual safety requirements. Minimum Qualifications include: Minimum of 10 years total experience with increasing responsibility toward professional construction management in sewer collection systems, with a minimum of 5 years in trenchless technology. Advanced understanding of construction contracts and a basic knowledge of legal implications of these documents. Advanced skills in scheduling and construction cost tracking and analysis. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal, which shall span a variety of forums including report writing, interactions with the contractor, daily instructions to field managers and inspectors, and documentation of same. Advanced skills in computer applications including word processing, electronic spreadsheet, and construction management programs, such as Primavera P3 and Expedition. Basic understanding of engineering principles as applied to sewer collection systems. Advanced understanding of work in public and private areas; permitting requirements for working in both areas; and, safety and public health preventive measures required for performing work in both areas. Education -Minimum 4 year college graduate in engineering or science, or 8 years of acceptable experience. Registration - Civil Engineer in Training preferred, or acceptable background and experience.
