Job Description:
Our client, located in East Syracuse is currently in need of an HVAC Design Engineer. This contract is expected to run a minimum of 10-months. The salary range for this assignment is $20-$25/hr. depending on experience.
This office/field based position for Building Automation Systems (BAS) provides expertise and knowledge throughout the system project lifecycle on and off project site. Utilizing existing tools, standards and procedures, provides design, estimating, start up and commissioning documents of standard (BAS) control projects. Individual will acts as a technical resource to team and customer as needed. Individual will attend pre-booking and turnover meetings to determine project scope. Analyzes plans, specifications, and contract to determine (BAS) system requirements. Selects products, sizes, types, and location placement to ensure products meet specification requirements.
Designs primarily small to medium size building automation systems (BAS) consisting of mechanical system layouts, sequence of operations, valve and damper schedules, panel layouts to meet the intent of project plans, specifications and contract documents. May become involved with field project management duties consisting of scheduling labor resources, invoicing and light project administration.
Designs primarily small to medium project building automation network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, and third party integration devices connected through LON, Ethernet, or BACNET.
Creates automation system database and job related programming for computer-based building control systems. Establishes special calibration instructions on selected equipment. Oversees the creation of system graphics. Troubleshoots possible issues including identifying and debugging software, electrical or pneumatic and installation problems.
Organizes and maintains the job folder and updates pertinent job related information. Prepares engineering re-estimate reports.
Provides on-site assistance with or performs the programming, start-up, checkout, commissioning and validation processes. Participates in job site final walk-through on assigned jobs, completes all job closeout documentation and provides customer training.
Acts as a technical resource to existing customers and field employees as needed. Coordinates work with subcontractors.
Provides engineering services listed above for larger and/or more complex projects with some deviation from standard practices if required. Must be able to perform all tasks with minimal supervision or coaching. May be responsible for training and providing guidance to engineering assistants and other specialists.

Job Requirements:
Required Skills / Qualifications:
*2 year Degree in Related Field - HVAC/Mechanical
*3+ years experience in HVAC trade or field
*Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, HVAC concepts, business ops, and job financial reports.
*Knowledge of AutoCAD, Word, Excel and Outlook software programs.
*Knowledge or Experience in Building Controls
*MS Word: Correspondence
*MS Excel: Data entry, formulas, create spreadsheets
*MS Outlook or other e-mail system experience
Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as you will communicate with engineers, mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, clients and internal team members from sales and operations.
