Job Description:
This position is responsible for the enforcement of federal and appropriate state appropriate criminal codes, and Department of Veterans Affairs Regulations originating in Federal statues in the physical protection of patients, members , visitors, employees and the functions of the communication center, electronic surveillance system of the Medical Center. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Selectee must satisfactorily complete a police officer physical, psychological screening and detailed background investigation. Selectee must also maintain a valid driver\'s license and safe driving record. Selectee must achieve and maintain qualification in the use of firearm training as a condition of continued employment as a VA Police Officer. SUPERVISORY OR MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: The candidate selected will be required to serve a one year probationary period for first time supervisors. Failure to meet the requirement as a supervisor will result in a return to a position no lower than the position previously held. You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.How You Will Be Evaluated: Additionally, applicants must have demonstrated that they have sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities in the rating factors listed below to perform the duties of this position.
