Job Description:
The employee of this position serves as the Chief of the Supply, Processing and Distribution (SPD) Section. SPD is the central point within Central Supply from which patient care, medical and surgical supplies are inventoried and stored, and instruments and equipment are received, processed, packaged, sterilized, stored and distributed. The incumbent exercises direct supervisory responsibilities for planning, directing and coordinating the complexities of these supply activities, allowing for coverage through may shifts, 7 days per week. The Chief, SPD, through subordinate leads, directs the activities of approximately 19 non-supervisory employees ranging in grade from GS-4 to GS-9. The Chief, SPD, makes decisions based on problems presented by subordinates, works with head of other organizations to resolve mutual problems or areas of concern, advises higher level management on problems in the organization and assesses the impact of those problems on the organization\'s activities and those of related medical center activities, evaluates performance of subordinates, makes or approves selections for non-supervisory positions, handles serious employee complaints or disciplinary problems. Qualifications:Applicants must have one (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level.
