Job Description:
Equitable Utilities includes two integrated divisions: Equitable Gas, a regulated local distribution company providing natural gas service to more than 270,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky; and Equitrans, a regulated interstate pipeline company that specializes in the transmission, storage and gathering of natural gas.The Operations Supervisor I plans, schedules, coordinates and supervises the necessary manpower and equipment to perform scheduled repairs of leaks on the Company's system. Ensures proper documentation and permits, compliance with standards and codes, quality workmanship by providing for necessary training, public safety and customer satisfaction. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Plans and organizes personnel and equipment needs to facilitate efficient field operations, including emergency response demands. Provides for employee and public safety. * Supervises a unionized Company labor force which includes directing daily work assignments to ensure maximum safety, productivity and customer satisfaction.* Monitors the work of numerous contractors to ensure safety, bid specifications and compliance with Company standards and regulations.* Recommends and justifies renewal and replacement projects, particularly gas mainlines and service lines. Ensures proper maintenance of vehicles, tools and equipment to minimize repair or replacement costs.* Acquires necessary permits for distribution operations from various municipalities and government agencies. Enhances new business opportunities through meetings with developers, marketing and municipal representatives.* Communicates and coordinates excavating activities with other utilities and private contractors, in conjunction with PA one-call procedures, to prevent damage or disruption of service.* Prepares and maintains various reports and records, including leak management, environmental compliance, third party damage claims and Company liability claims. Monitors, reviews and approves contractor and vendor invoices.* Provides instruction and training of employees in all phases of their job duties, conducts regular safety meeting and evaluates subordinate performance. Counsels and motivates employees to improve performance and assure customer satisfaction.* Represents the Company in meetings with individual consumers or consumer groups and in litigation actions and hearings to resolve complaints or provide information pertaining to Company operations. REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma; and* At least eight years of gas field operations or related experience; OR* An equivalent combination of education and experience.
