Defense Purchasing Manager - Arizona Kforce has a great career opportunity for an experienced Defense Purchasing Manager for an exciting defense company in Phoenix, Arizona. This position is in Phoenix, AZ (East Valley) and selected candidate will have to relocate to Phoenix. We are seeking a goal-oriented, hands-on Manager for a contractor responsible for source spending exceeding $25 million of all products and services. This person will lead a team of 5-6 procurement professionals focused on serving internal and external customers and establishing positive business relationships with a diverse supplier base including international sources. Responsibilities include: Directly responsible for product oriented material procurements, MRO, and capital purchases Develop new supplier sources to strengthen the supplier base Develop and manage small business and supplier diversity programs Negotiate high dollar subcontracts for favorable pricing and terms Draft agreements as they relate to procurement including supply agreements, license agreements, subcontracts, and consulting agreements Continually improve responsiveness in estimating, bidding activities, material ordering, supplier communication, performance measurement, quality and all related procurement functions Identify opportunities for improving the cost effectiveness of all procurement activities Ensure continuance of a government-approved purchasing system Proactively prevent sourcing risks and resolve supplier issues Develop policies and procedures and strategic goals for the department Develop meaningful metrics Provide goal-oriented leadership to coach, mentor, and train department team to elevate skills and implement best practices Required Skills: Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Material Management, Finance, Operations Management, or related field Multiple years of direct buying experience in the defense industry using knowledge of FARs / DFARs Procurement of technical items particularly machined parts, chemicals, energetic materials, and composite products Read drawings, mechanical/machine part blueprints, specifications, and technical documents (mandatory) Experience in material estimating methodology and cost/price analysis 3 to 5 years of experience managing a supply chain organization Strong negotiation skills Travel up to 20% Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. , For more information, please visit to OperationsCrossing.
