OPERATIONS MANAGER The primary purpose of this role is to maximize the weekly, monthly, and annual performance of the site. Specifically, the Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of a third-party home delivery operation. The Operations Manager will provide overall leadership in the areas of operational performance, P&L management, customer relations, continuous improvement, and people development. Due to the unique challenges of the industry, it is essential that Manager candidates possess a track record of progressive transportation and cross-docking experience preferably with experience managing drivers and/or owner-operators. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Identify opportunities to improve the operations and create standardized business processes that result in increased performance and customer service. Ensure customer contract requirements are administered and enforced. Develop/achieve agreed budget, revenue, and profit (P&L) for responsible sites. Monitor service levels to ensure that performance metrics meet customer/vendor and Exel (Balanced Scorecard) contractual requirements. Take an active role in site workload planning and volume forecasting (i.e. staffing, equipment, space). Drive operational performance at the site level with a particular focus on productivity, quality, and cost. Provide a safe, secure, clean, and fair work environment. Provide for associate performance reviews and development/succession planning as appropriate. Ensure site operates to the routines outlined in the site interaction matrix and SOPs. Ensure company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced (i.e. accounting, operational, regulatory, and administrative). Job Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a courier, time-sensitive delivery/transportaion environment strongly preferred. 3-5 years supply chain management experience in transportation/delivery and/or cross-docking. A degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related operations discipline preferred. 3 years experience managing full P&L. Experience managing owner operators and/or company drivers (2-man delivery teams) a plus. A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem-solving. Ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment. Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels in support of customer relationships. Ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure. A commitment to continuous improvement in an ever-changing industry.
