Job Description: This position works in a busy Professional-Technical department of the college and reports directly to the Director of Automotive to assure the department’s priorities are maintained. The position works cooperatively to support the activities of the Automotive Department faculty and staff, and will make extensive use of an IBM-compatible personal computer for production of complex word processing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing secretarial and clerical support to faculty and staff; editing and proofreading classroom and examination materials, documents and Appointment Review reports; preparing administrative documents including travel requests, purchase requests, student evaluations, reimbursements, personnel action forms, program informational packets and accreditation documents; monitoring budget status reports; serving as the first point of contact for prospective students and be able to explain how each automotive program operates and how to apply; staying knowledgeable of special projects or classes within the department for response to public and campus inquiries; managing course construction quarterly and meet college deadlines; serving as the minute taker for departmental meetings; assisting with special event preparation such as graduation and advisory committee meetings; distributing mail, messages, deliveries, faxes, etc; answering and directing calls/emails. This position works 30 hours per week.
