Job Description: The University of Wyoming invites applications for the position of Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Security. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Administration and is responsible for all aspects of the University's environmental health and safety programs. The Director oversees the University's health, regulatory and safety compliance programs, enforces provisions of local, state and federal laws and regulations, and assesses the health and safety conditions in university buildings and facilities. THE UNIVERSITY: The University of Wyoming is a doctoral/research (extensive) Internet II, Division I-A, land-grant university with more than 13,000 students enrolled in baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs on and off campus.The only state-supported university, UW is located in Laramie, with a population of 27,000 residents on the high plains in the heart of the American West. The campus is a two-hour drive north of Denver, Colorado. Additional information may be found on the UW web page at http://www.uwyo.edu/ and http://www.laramie.org/ GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Security is a member of the leadership team for the Division of Administration under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President for Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, financial and personnel activities of the department of Environmental Health, Safety and Security. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director will provide leadership in development and implementation of programs in biological, chemical, fire, radiation, industrial and occupational health and safety. Additionally, the Director will lead campus-wide initiatives related to emergency preparedness, planning and response strategies utilizing ICS and NIMS. The successful candidate will promote a positive, responsible safety culture through collaborative partnerships with all the universities academic and non academic departments and divisions. The Director will monitor programs and policies to ensure university compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
