Job Description: The Senior Internal Auditor will plan, organize and execute operational, financial and compliance audits in accordance with the department’s risk-based annual audit plan to ensure that processes are efficient and effective in order to minimize cost and risk; provide management with independent analysis and recommendations on the adequacy of internal controls based on industry standards and best practice, federal and state regulation, and in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Emphasis is on risk management, strengthening controls over operating activities, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and financial reporting. Performs assignments in compliance with Internal Audit Policies and Procedures, standards, guidelines, and priorities; develops and maintains an understanding of business activities and objectives, as well as associated risks; uses this understanding to assist the department in identifying auditable activities and in the preparation of the annual audit plan; identifies and communicates control weaknesses in order to develop recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the process under review; and assists in financial audits as necessary.
Job Requirements: A. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required. B. Masters degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration preferred. C. A minimum of three to five years of auditing experience is required, preferably in the health industry. D. CIA, CISA, CPA or combination of professional designations highly preferred. E. PC and Windows skills required, including spreadsheet and database applications. Advanced skills such as querying and data mining are highly desirable. F. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to effectively research and communicate audit issues and concerns and interact with multiple levels of management. G. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees. H. Demonstrated decision making, analytical and problem solving skills; ability to interpret complex information and present it in an easily understandable and meaningful format. I. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision. J. Ability to assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality.
