Job Description: The main job responsibility will be to completely create machine thermoform tooling (inserts, logos, plugs, etc.) from design to the finished part. This will require the use of CAM software as well as a CNC 3 axis milling machine. Finishing operations will also be required such as lead blasting, polishing, debarring, etc.
From time to time some manual mill and lathe work will be required.
This position will also serve the tool shop in a repair function for any damaged tooling.
This position will assist the tooling department in any capacity necessary as deemed by the tooling engineer.
The use of typical tool shop tools such as a micrometer, calipers, power tools, hand tools, fork lifts, cranes, rigging, and ultrasonic baths will be expected and required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
• Use CAM software to create tool paths for thermoform inserts • Promotes a safe workplace • Machine all new insert work for the plant (operation of CNC) • Complete above parts by doing finishing work on the inserts (polishing, bead blasting, deburring, etc...) • Complete any repair work on tooling that is necessary as requested by the tool shop • Assist the Sr. Tool Tech in the oversight of the tool shop • Order materials as necessary to continue the work flow of the shop • Assist in the development of the machine shop from the ground up • Assist the tool shop in improvement projects such as organizational projects, lean projects, etc... • Work overtime as needed • Use computer for tooling input and for reporting (Microsoft Office, ERP, etc...)
Job Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS
A) EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Candidate must have a High School diploma and at least 5 years of experience working with CAM software and operating a CNC Machine. General machine shop experience is a must with a complete understanding of metal machining tools. The ability to run manual mills and lathes is also desired. Experience with Thermoforming tooling and process, use of Solidworks, and welding is a plus. Certificates, diplomas and degrees desired in any of the above.
B) HARDWARE/SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE Able to work in basic P.C. software programs (Microsoft Word Excel, Outlook, etc.) and the current ERP program as well as work with CAM software. Use of Solidworks is a plus.
