Job Description: The EHS Manager/Professional monitors and ensures plant safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including inspections, meetings, training and orientations. Provides technical assistance and support for the plant in implementing and obtaining annual safety, environmental and industrial hygiene goals; develops SARA reports (MSDS, hazardous communications, community-right-to-know, etc.). Conducts self audits and assists departments with performing their own audits. * Assist line and staff management to understand OSHA/EPA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA/EPA compliance, inspections and citations.* Investigates recordable injuries, non-recordable accidents and environmental incidents in conjunction with line and staff personnel. Notifies top management of pertinent details.* Assists in communicating hazard control & exposure information and evaluates effectiveness of the control (toolbox meetings).* Guides and assists plant personnel as to critical environmental, health and safety problems.* Completes accident statistics, investigations of accidents & recommendations for prevention of recurrence. * Plans and directs safety and industrial hygiene services of insurance carriers to obtain optimum service.* Works with trade and professional organizations to promote goals and objectives in the environmental, health and safety area that affect business.* Assesses and implements new developments in the environmental, health and safety field that may have application to operations. * Establishes target areas and long-range incident prevention and cost-control objectives. * Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state environmental, health and safety laws likely to affect the company* Acts as ranking location representative in dealing with government agencies on environmental, health and safety matters affecting the location. * Investigates fatalities, serious injuries or other major incidnets that occur at location.* Participates as a member of the leadership team. Basic Qualifications This position requires a Bachelor degree in Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Also, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred. Individual must have highly developed organizational skills; be able to grasp technical issues involved with environmental, health and safety regulations; be personable, out-going and persuasive. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Alcoa EH&S systems preferred.Ability to take directions from corporate EHS staff & network with EHS professionals from other locations. MBA is a plus.,
