Job Description:
Our client is looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server DBA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 - 8 years experience in supporting enterprise class SQL Server and Windows server environments. An in-depth knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and the Windows operating system is required along with SQL Server and Windows certifications. Candidates must have impeccable written and verbal communication skills and have a minimum of 2 years experience with direct third level customer support.
A bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent 6 - 8 years progressive experience within technical support position is required. The ideal candidate will posses a thorough knowledge of database Server infrastructure design including high availability alternatives, instance and database backup and recovery, tuning and troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of the Windows operating system including Cluster Services. Prior experience working with enterprise infrastructure including cluster and other high availability architectures is required. The candidate must additionally have Internet based business applications experience, and working experience with Oracle and/or MySQL, preferably on Linux operating systems. Experience with Oracle RAC and/or MySQL Clusters would be desirable. Preference will be given to candidates having direct sales support and customer support experience in addition to the technical requirements.
Duties will include technical support, management of multiple on-going projects, sales support, direct participation in complex service turn-up's, enhancement of operations practices, proactive problem resolution and on-call support responsibilities. Duties will additionally involve tracking performance, utilization, platform growth, and adherence to service metrics for assigned customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience implementing MS SQL solutions in a variety of application environments
Experience designing, configuring, and maintaining database infrastructures.
Demonstrate technical proficiency in resolving database performance and throughput issues.
Demonstrate technical leadership in SQL as well as within the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Working knowledge of high availability database architectures.
Working knowledge of database backup and recovery procedures.
Enhance storage offerings with advanced storage techniques such as data replication, snapshot technology, cloning, SAN boot, and database/application synchronization utilities.
Experience implementing database solutions on SAN and NAS storage environments
Conversant with the benefits and trade-off's of the most popular RAID and storage configurations.
Advanced knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Windows operating system (NT, 2000, 2003, XP)
Provide database design and implementation assistance for internal applications as required.
Assist with developing disaster recovery plans.
Serve as project lead for all new service turn-up's.
Provide day to day technical leadership.
Provide and coordinate technical sales support relating to new opportunities.
Review and enhance service descriptions.
Ensure compliance with operations processes and policies.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Possess a customer service-oriented approach.
Participate effectively as an individual contributor within a multifaceted technology environment.
Must project maturity, confidence, and creativity.
Must display a willingness to learn and self initiative.
Working knowledge of Project Management practices.
