Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Product Design Engineer has the product design responsibility for, components, systems and sub-systems of various pool equipment such as: pumps, filters, filter media, and white goods (plumbing fittings). Working cross-functionally with multiple Manufacturing facilities both foreign and domestic as well as outside vendors he/she will ensure that the highest level of design quality, integrity and performance are maintained with strict adherence to all company policies and procedures. Duties and responsibilities include the following: Coordinate with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure implementation of new products and changes to existing products are consistent with new product development plans, ECRs and cost reduction plans. File all product development and analytical efforts in the appropriate Design Record Books. As appropriate, chair or lead all technical design reviews and failure investigations. Provide technical support to manufacturing for the resolution of manufacturing issues associated with components, systems, subsystems or products. Provide engineering support to the Customer Support for the resolution of customer issues. Lead by example through the execution of designs within product specification guidelines for form, fit, function, quality, produce-ability, cost and schedule.Requirements:Qualifications/experience: 3 to 5 years experience in mechanisms, motor, pump and pressure vessel design with a heavy emphasis on the use of plastics. Demonstrated experience with Product Development Processes and Disciplines. Knowledge of electromechanical and electronic components. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and disciplines. Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems, geometric tolerances and design for assembly. Knowledge of Design of Experiments techniques. Working knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, heat transfer and other design tools. Ability to analyze and reduce a wide range of product data in the determination of root causes to problems. Computer literacy in the use of presentation and program management software. Strong interpersonal, communications and analytical skills. Strong problem solving techniques and statistical process controls knowledge. Unquestioned Integrity. Education: BSME, BSEE or equivalent required. Experience: See Job Description
