Job Description:
A Substation Apprentice has a working knowledge of 525 kv and below substation equipment, apparatus, and wiring. They install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot and repair substation equipment which includes, but is not limited to transformers, regulators, load tap changers, circuit breakers
Job Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of OSHA and Shaw Energy Delivery Services safety rules and safe work procedures and applicable environmental regulations.
Knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
Good driving record.
Class A Commercial Drivers License or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Ability to obtain a Dot Medical Card.
Able to lift 100 pounds.
Climb and work at various heights up to 125 feet above the ground.
Must not be afraid of heights.
Ability to work in close proximity of energized substation equipment.
Interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to interpret station structural drawings (i.e., elevations, plans, section views, details )
