Job Description: Scholastic Book Fairs works with schools across the country to host more than 120,000 annual reading events, connecting more than 55 million children with great books each year. Book Fairs foster enthusiasm for reading, while helping to build school and classroom libraries by providing students, teachers and parents access to thousands of books and educational products at affordable prices. The graphic designer is responsible for the concept, design, formatting, and execution of marketing materials for Scholastic Book Fairs under the direction of the art director and marketing director.With art director and marketing directors ensure consistency of the brand image/message.Work with production managers to maintain schedules, manage priorities, maintain high quality standards, and work within budget.Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Produces final electronic files for printing and posting on internet. Involved in every stage of preparation of pre-flighting materials for pre-press for printing.Remain current on latest trends and styles in marketing to children and adults.Maintain confidentiality of themes, directions, pricing, vendors, tactics, and marketing materials.Regular attendance in accordance with schedule.Drug and alcohol-free policy compliance.Accuracy and efficient in design file preparation Our generous full time benefits include career opportunities, competitive salaries and comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, vision, prescription) as well as 401(k) and pension plans and a 50% employee discount! Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in graphic design/arts or related discipline preferred.Minimum of five (5) years of business experience in an agency, corporate advertising, or marketing department. Extensive experience with Macintosh-based programs including QuarkXPress and/or Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator an Acrobat. Knowledge of Web-based applications is helpful but not required.Must have a detailed knowledge of printing and printing processes.Excellent design, typographic and production skills.Self-motivated individual who instinctively provides creative inspiration and out-of-the-box thinking.Experience in Scanning and Photo Retouching / Color Correction.Must possess a strong portfolio of work.Ability to communicate effectively and make presentations. Contribute to a positive team environment.Ability to take direction and work in a creative team environment both independently and when directed, overtime work when needed.Multi-tasking ability.Ability to accept criticism and rework.Good problem solving skills.Self-starter, organized and flexible to handle multiple tasks.
