Job Description:
Manager / Group Leader for small sample room located in Columbus Ohio.
Fast paced environment.
Sample room makes prototype apparel samples over a variety of product types ranging from men’s, women’s and children’s knit tops, and woven bottoms.
Ability to work with and train sample stitchers whose main language is not English.
Ability to translate concept designer sketches into first patterns and follow through to prototype sample.
Ability to train , teach and coach the team of technical designers and samples makers.
Exceptional organizational skills a must.
Ability to use and to train sample hands on various industrial machines including cover stitch, single needle, serge/over lock, etc.
Manage sample room flow from patternmaking through cutting to sewing to meet very tight deadlines.
Ability to develop outside network of patternmakers and sample sewers to manage capacity peaks and valleys
Job Requirements:
Pattern making skills ( INDUSTRY concept and first patterns a must, knowledge of factory production patterns a plus)
Good communication skills./Must speak English.
Ability to translate apparel concepts into patterns and samples from sketches .
Ability to read and understand technical specs.
Ability to create a technical garment tech pack.
Ability to use word, excel, and develop and manage sample tracking tool systems.
Ability to remain calm in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
Ability to relate to and communicate with a variety of skill levels both internally and with customers.
Knowledge of pattern alternations and grade rules for all product categories a plus.
Knowledge of various commercial brand aesthetics is key. Ability to translate concept to first samples that are the appropriate aesthetic for various brands .
