Job Description: TECHNICAL ARTIST
As technical artist, the candidate will serve as the artistic and technical generalist throughout every stage of game development. Technical skills required will include proficiency in code writing as well as a proven artistic eye and 3D-Artist skill set. The candidate will optimize workflows, define integration pipelines and perform as liaison between art and technology.
Essential Job Function: Manages and simplifies the flow of data between artists and engineers in a fast-paced production environment Troubleshoots issues regarding scripting tools and limitations of design programs Creates basic tools to facilitate workflow Works closely with artists to communicate production needs and solve pipeline problems Creates instructions for usage of tools, design programs, and game engines Verifies and coordinates feasibility of design documents and technical design documents Suggests modifications to artwork based on design and technical design constraints
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: General knowledge of game design, artistic design, and coding Exceptional communication skills with a knack for drafting resolutions to technical issues and explaining resolutions to various members of a team Expert overall knowledge of Maya Strong knowledge of Melscript (Perl, Python, maxcript a plus) General knowledge of game design, 3D art production and Tool creation Working knowledge of game engines such as Unreal, Quake, Source, or Crisis Ability to coordinate a large number of tasks efficiently and effectively when faced with major deadlines Competence in at least one artistic area (modeling, animation, and/or texturing)
Desired Skills: Be prepared to work with a great Team of producers, Character Artists, 3D Artists, 2D Artists, UI Artists, Game Designers, Technical Artists, Engineers/Programmers, and leaders. Production experience Character rigging experience Experience using Perforce Experience with MS Visual studio and C++, C# or Java
