Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician position is based in Castroville, California. The position reports to the Shop Manager and will be responsible for maintaining the Ocean Mist Farms facility and equipment.
Job Requirements:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Maintenance
Value Added Room maintain all equipment and appropriate service records;
Ice Manufacturing maintain ice manufacturing and delivery equipment and maintain ice injector;
Forklift basic repair and service as necessary; maintain appropriate service records;
Refrigeration Equipment basic repair and service as necessary.
Building Maintenance
Maintain all building equipment, doors, docks, etc.;
Perform preventative maintenance as required.
Maintenance Shop
Maintain a clean and safe working area to facilitate repairs and maintenance;
Assist Manager in other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two years experience in troubleshooting and repairing Value-Added equipment;
Basic refrigeration knowledge and troubleshooting of systems is required;
RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) and ASTI (Ammonia Safety Training Institute) certification a plus;
Three years working in a manufacturing/refrigeration environment is preferred;
Ability to operate a forklift is required, previous certification is preferred;
Ability to use hand, power and other mechanical tools is required;
Ability to use MIG & TIG welders is a plus;
Ability to use telephone, fax, computer keyboard, photocopy machine and other office equipment is required.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position requires that employees work Monday through Saturday, including some Sundays;
Eight to ten hours per day or as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities, some overtime may be required;
Travel to Coachella may be required during our winter season.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Courses in refrigeration is preferred;
High school diploma or GED is required.

Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend verbal instructions;
Requires sufficient sight and hearing to perform all job functions;
Ability to carry out defined procedures and duties with specific instructions;
Ability to learn new duties with minimal repetition;
Strong interpersonal skills including; ability to maintain effective working relationships with Employees, Peers, Supervisors, Vendors and Customers;
Ability to manage a project from its initiation to completion with minimal supervision;
Ability to communicate in English and Spanish a plus.
