Job Description:
The Digital Imaging Field Service Engineer will install and maintain IDEXX digital imaging systems at customer sites. Work closely with the digital team members to evaluate products and practices that lead to continuous improvement in the areas of product design, customer support and overall satisfaction.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Travel to customer locations within an assigned North American territory to perform the following duties:
•Pre-call customers prior to onsite installation to review installation requirements and schedule of events
•Install digital imaging systems at companion animal hospitals, including equipment set-up, loading imaging software, calibrating imaging equipment and software to customers’ x-ray machines.
•Connect additional computers to existing networks
•Modify certain x-ray tables to accommodate imaging equipment
•Train veterinary doctors and technicians, IDEXX sales representatives and agency representatives on use of imaging equipment, and capture software.
•Identify and propose opportunities for reducing costs of installations, including modifying existing processes.
•Perform onsite customer service in response to identified issues
•Perform and document root cause analysis of customers’ problems, to support continuous product and customer support improvements, in consultation with installation manager.
•Initiate and communicate changes in technical processes to ensure compliance with operating policies and enhance customer satisfaction.
•Serve as the customer advocate in business unit decisions.
•Prepare expense and post-installation reports after each installation or service event.
•Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
EDUCATION:
•Associates degree or veterinary technician degree and/or certification or previous computer/veterinary coursework preferred.
•Bachelor’s degree or four-year certification from accredited training program, college or university preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum of one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
•Preferred experience includes education and/or experience in veterinary or human diagnostic radiography, computers, hardware, software, and networked environments

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Experience in the field of radiology (human or veterinary).
•Experience working with Windows2000, Windows XP operating systems.
•Experience installing and troubleshooting software applications on PC's.
•Experience installing and/or troubleshooting hardware components
•Experience adding computers in a wired and wireless network
•Able to work at multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work.
•Able to work well under pressure and tight time constraints.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to assist others.
•Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
•Effective verbal and written communication skills.
•Able to train customers in the use of installed digital imaging products
•Detail orientated, with strong data analysis and organizational skills
•Customer oriented with professional representation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•Ability to lift 70 pound box
•Extensive computer use.
•Ability to work extended periods of time sitting or standing.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
•Entensive travel required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•Travel to customer locations within North America
•Busy veterinary clinic.
•Work around and/or have contact with animals
•Must be willing to work flexible hours and be willing to work extended hours when needed.
•Must be willing to carry a Blackberry (cell phone /e-mail or equivalent device) and provide emergency support as needed.
