Job Description: Job Purpose: The Plant Maintenance Mechanic directs and coordinates the repair, maintenance and installation of machines and equipment in the maintenance of buildings, grounds and utility systems of the plant. Key responsibilities and accountabilities (other duties as assigned): • Repairs and maintains in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. • Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools; starts devices to test performance. • Adjusts functional parts of devices; Repairs or replaces defective parts; Installs special functional and structural parts in devices; lubricates and cleans parts; uses various tools and devices to make and repair parts. • Initiates purchase orders for parts and equipment. • Repairs electrical equipment. • Welds and uses cutting torches. • Follows all safety and environmental rules and procedures. • Provide own hand tools per list supplied by Company. • Will train and follow all OSHA regulations such as confined spaces, LOTO, PPE, etc. • Ability to work all shifts (including weekends) and on-call for plant emergencies.
Job Requirements: Requirements • H.S. Degree or GED equivalent required; advanced Degree in Technical Field preferred. • Two to four years experience preferred. • Must be familiar with the use of welding/cutting equipment, mechanical and pneumatic hand and power tools, meters, and test equipment required to perform a variety of duties. • Must be able to apply vocational and/or business principles to solve practical problems (plan, inspect, record, etc.). • Must be able to read shop drawings, blue prints, wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, etc. • Lean Manufacturing knowledge or experience, especially in TPM desired. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required with experience MRO systems (CMMS, Smart Maintenance) preferred.
