Job Description:
The city of Toledo Fire & Rescue Department, an equal opportunity employer, seeks dynamic and energetic men and women, of all ethnicities, to join our team and become firefighter/paramedic professionals. The mission of the department is the protection of the community from fire, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, trench rescue, vehicle accidents and other crisis with the response of highly trained personnel. The successful applicants will be trained as a firefighter and paramedic and have a commitment to customer service. Job Requirements:
1) Minimum age of 18 years and maximum age of 34 years by date of written exam.
2) High school diploma or G.E.D.
3) Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license upon appointment.
4. Selected applicant must establish City of Toledo residency within 6 months of employment.
5) Successful candidate must pass:
- Written examination
- Background investigation
- Oral interview
- Medical examination
- Physical ability examination

Since 1837, Toledo firefighters have been protecting the citizens of Toledo. Much has changed since those early years. The Toledo Fire Department now has 17 fire stations located throughout the city. We currently employ over 525 firefighters. In addition to responding to fires, all Toledo firefighters are trained Emergency Medical Technicians with 135 also being certified paramedics. Each year the Toledo Fire Department responds to over 45,000 emergency incidents. These runs include fire, hazardous marterials incidents, water rescue, confined space rescue, and homeland security.
