Job Description:
Location: Southeast Florida
You will have the opportunity to work out of one of three regional offices in Boca Raton, Ft Lauderdale or Miami.
The organization we are representing is one of the top health agencies in the country! In fact the Southeast Florida region is one of the strongest regions in the organization.
We are looking for a seasoned ¡§Regional Vice President of Major Gifts¡¨ (RVP). You will be responsible for establishing and implementing a strategy for enhancing private support in the designated territory. The position is responsible for fund raising strategies to secure outright financial support from individuals, family foundations, and private foundations. Identifies prospects, conducts research, identifies and implements cultivation strategies and directly solicits major gifts, at the appropriate level, on behalf of the organization. The RVP will work closely with the board/s and field staff to coordinate fundraising efforts
Major Responsibilities:
„X Responds to the direction of the Senior Vice President of Major Gifts for Florida.
„X Educates, motivates, and works with volunteers and where appropriate volunteer boards.
„X Administers and is responsible for the daily operation of the Major Gifts efforts within geographic territory.
„X Plans and coordinates visitations with the various constituencies of the organization.
„X Identifies individual priority prospects for Major Gifts and establishes appropriate files for prospects.
„X Conducts prospect research and develops appropriate cultivation and solicitation plans. Matches prospects goals and needs to agency needs/opportunities. Targets prospects/donors that have potential to contribute $10,000 minimum gifts with emphasis on Major Gifts.
„X Implements prospect/donor cultivation strategies.
„X Identifies volunteers, in cooperation with the local office staff, to be involved in the cultivation and solicitation process, or to open doors to potential donors.
„X Directly solicits prospects for appropriate level gifts.
„X Reports progress to Senior Vice President, on regular basis.
„X Attends Major Gift meetings as necessary.
„X Communicates with staff on activities as necessary.
„X Participates in training programs as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Guided by our operational goals and policies when dealing with problems arising on the job. Problems are often ambiguous, requiring careful determination of their nature and scope, identification and analysis of possible alternatives, interpretation of rules, policies, or practices, and development of appropriate solutions.
• Freedom to act is circumscribed by operational policies, professional standards and general management direction. The incumbent is accountable for the effective identification, cultivation and solicitation of planned and major gifts, an agreed upon number of prospect visitations, solicitations, and stewardship calls, specified major gifts commitments.
• Bachelor¡¦s degree (Advanced Degree preferred).
• Five years Major Gifts fund raising skills
• Experience building and maintaining relationships
• Effective sales/solicitation calls and effective closing sales/solicitations
• Thorough knowledge of the process of identifying prospects for Major Gifts, prospect/donor cultivation processes and general knowledge of Planned Gift vehicles
• Strong management, planning and organization skills
• Familiar with general business principles and practices
• Ability to function independently
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
• Ability to travel throughout territory and attend training and meetings outside territory if necessary
• Strong consultation and negotiation skills
• Computer literacy
Minimum Qualifications (Continued):
• Five years successful experience in Major Gifts fund raising
