Job Description:
1) Oversee conceiving, designing, and producing innovative new electronics products
2) Lead the mechanical design of consumer electronics products from concept to production
3) Work closely with Industrial Designers and Electrical Engineers on concept realization and feasibility using sketches, Pro/E solid modeling, and quick turn prototyping
4) Develop elegant and robust mechanical solutions for product concepts with tight spatial constraints, mechanisms, integrated electronics, and complex organic surfacing
5) Use engineering analysis and simulation to design in product quality in the early design stages and reduce iteration and issues during new product introduction
6) Build and validate prototypes
7) Translate concept solutions into manfacturable and cost effective detailed designs
8) Work closely with in-house and external electrical design teams to create PCB outline drawings the integrate and control mechanical and electrical requirements
9) Create design documentation for release to manufacturing including bill of materials and part/assembly drawings
10) Support design through production tooling, qualification testing, and manufacturing introduction
Job Requirements:
1) BS in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years experience in related mechanical product design preferred
2) 8,000 + hours of current Pro/E CAD experience with strong surfacing skills
3) Plastics injection molding experience and experience in part design for moldability
4) Injection tool design knowledge
5) Experience in metal part design and associated mass production processes
6) Experience working with overseas product development and manufacturing
7) Experience with electronic enclosure design for high volume handheld portable consumer electronics products
8) Experience with PCB outline drawings
9) Experience with FEA, FMEA, DOE, and Moldflow is a plus
10) Mechanism design experience
11) 'DFx' experience.
12) Current Technical skills (used extensively for past three years)
13) Willingness to travel (overseas)
